2nd Annual  Formators Retreat: Authentic Being and Authentic Relating

August 10-13, 2026

Retreat Registration

Mother of the Redeemer Retreat Center

Bloomington, Indiana

Consider joining us for our 2026 retreat, an opportunity for formators (therapists, coaches, spiritual directors, priests, any Catholic who accompanies others in formation) to make a leap forward in your human formation work.

Our theme is “Authentic Being and Authentic Relating.”  Authentic means genuine, real, true, trustworthy, and reliable.  To be fully authentic means being fully present, not part disconnected, no part neglected, no part rejected, no part subjected to condemnation and abandonment, no part left behind. In short, authenticity requires interior integration.

This retreat focuses on you finding and loving you in more of your parts, including parts you have not yet encountered – your exiles – and for those parts you have met, but who your manager parts frequently forget. And, we focus on how your parts can help you “be with” others in formation in ways that lead to healing and flourishing.

In the supportive holding environment of the retreat and with your fellow retreatants, you will work on becoming more integrated inside.  Becoming more “wholly” you accelerates you becoming a more “holy” you.  Why?  Because grace perfects nature. Shoring up your natural human formation foundation will support and enliven your spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation, as St. John Paul II maintains.

This retreat is a retreat for your heart; thus, it is highly experiential.  Among the experiential offerings are the following:

  • experiential exercises
  • demonstrations
  • parts sculpting
  • somatic/body work
  • triad work (with you in the accompanier, accompanied and observer roles)
  • small group sharing
  • parts mapping
  • parts journaling
  • modeling parts with clay

These will be offered in a schedule with plenty of unscheduled time for you to process, pray and connect inside and outside.

A felt sense of safety and protection will be emphasized and monitored – the focus on this retreat is to encounter and connect with your exiles, not necessarily to work through all their burdens.  We will seek to listen to the voids, the gaps, the holes inside, with big open hearts and without agendas.  We are open to healing and growth however that may happen for you, as good process leads to good outcomes (but you don’t get to choose the specific outcomes). And we will be thoughtful about the next right steps and re-entry back to your ongoing life after the retreat.

This personal, internal human formation work is critical formation.  In order to “be with” those you accompany, you must first be able to “be with” yourself.  You can’t give what you don’t have and you can’t lead others where you’ve never been yourself.

Your retreat leaders will be Dr. Peter Malinoski and Bridget Adams, with contributions from some special guest presenters. Daily Mass, time for confession, adoration and silent prayer are incorporated into the retreat schedule, as well as evening fellowship and opportunities for 1:1 consultation.

The total cost of the 2026 retreats:

  • $1,025 for single room (limited availability)
  • $750 for double room
  • See payment details at the bottom of this page.

In order to reserve your spot at a retreat, please use one of the two payment links below, which specify whether you want a single or double room. A limited number of single rooms are available. If the single room deposit link doesn't work, those single rooms are sold out.  We will help match retreatants with roommates.

The FFF Retreat will be held August 10 – 13, 2026.

Please plan to arrive at Mother of the Redeemer Retreat Center in Bloomington, Indiana, on Monday, August 10 at about 5:00 PM. The retreat concludes with an optional, leisurely brunch together in Bloomington afterward before departing. All lodging and meals except the optional final brunch are included in the retreat fee.

After making the deposit payment, please check your email for a purchase confirmation email which will include a link to complete your retreat registration.

Participation in this FFF Retreat is limited to Catholic formators who have at least some introduction to and experience with parts work.

Awareness and some experience with Catholic parts work is a prerequisite for this retreat, as we expect a basic understanding of IFS concepts.  You can get that experience by watching and grasping the basic concepts in episodes 157, 158, and 159 of the Interior Integration for Catholics podcast or completing an Foundations Experiential Group in the Formation for Formator Community or by having Level 1 IFS training or completing Stepping Stones, or a basic course in IFS such as this one.

To help you prepare for the retreat, Peter Malinoski, Ph.D. and Bridget Adams will also be offering two free, optional, introductory, interactive experiential 90-minute webinars on parts work grounded in a Catholic understanding of the human person for those who are interested in the retreat and the FFF:

  • IFS Basics for Catholic Formators on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM Eastern (register here)
  • Catholic Parts Work in Human Formation on June 10, 2023 at 8:00 PM Eastern (register here)

Recordings of these meetings will be available on the Formation For Formators landing page the following day.

You do not need to be an Formation For Formators member to attend the retreat.

We expect to reach capacity for this retreat; however, Souls and Hearts reserves the right to cancel if the minimum number of participants is not met. If your retreat is cancelled, your deposit will be refunded 100%.
