It is good to be loved. 

We all need grace and the love of God our Father and Mary our Mother, first and foremost in prayer and sacrament. That’s a given.

And we also need each other, in the Body of Christ, to “bear each other’s burdens” as St. Paul teaches us (Galatians 6:2).

And all of us Catholic therapists, spiritual directors, coaches, priests, seminarian formators and others who individually accompany others also need our own ongoing human formation.  We need care and compassion; we need a sense of safety and understanding; we need love. 

We formators sometimes try to minimize our attachment needs and our integrity needs, and that is understandable because we so naturally and habitually focus on others.  If we minimize or even ignore our needs for too long, we burn out, get bitter, and begin to resent those for whom we care. 

Those of us at Souls & Hearts want more for you than just to avoid burnout, bitterness, and resentment.  We want you to thrive, to flourish in the work you do – so that your accompaniment of others in formation brings a deep sense of joy, peace, and satisfaction to your life.  So that you look forward to each day as an adventure in loving your neighbor.

That's why our team at Souls & Hearts has decided to offer a special retreat just for formators like you. We wanted to create a space for you to be able to receive love from God as His beloved little son or daughter, and to take in love from others in the retreat experience.  You also will be invited to love yourself – and this includes all of your parts in their needs.  This retreat is highly experiential, reaching out to care for not just your mind and your soul, but also your heart and your body.

The retreat consists of:

• Experiential exercises
• Large group sessions
• Breakout sessions for personal sharing (never forced)
• A  parts mapping session to help identify your parts and their relationships inside
• Somatic exercises
• Communal worship and prayer
• The sacraments of the Eucharist and Confession
• Meals together
• Fellowship

This retreat will be held from August 11-14, 2025, and it focuses on your human formation, shoring up your natural, human foundation first. We want you to have a deep sense of being loved first across all your parts -- so that you can better love and serve others in all their parts.

All in a way that is informed by Internal Family Systems and firmly grounded in a Catholic understanding of the human person. 

Dr. Peter Malinoski and Marion Moreland, both Internal Family Systems Level-3 trained professionals, will be your retreat leaders, with other Souls & Hearts staff in support. 

The retreat center’s grounds and facilities offer myriad opportunities for quiet reflection time, prayer walks, recreation, and relaxed evening socials. A beautiful chapel with the Blessed Sacrament is available for private prayer 24/7, and the main church at the top of the hill is stunning. The Franciscan Friars offer confession and adoration at various times, and also offer preaching at daily Masses, which are very reverent.

Please plan to arrive at Mother of the Redeemer Retreat Center in Bloomington, Indiana, on Monday, August 11th between 4:00 PM and 5:30PM. This retreat concludes with a Mass on Thursday morning, August 14th. All meals and lodging are included in the retreat fee.

After making the deposit payment, please check your email for a purchase confirmation email which will include a link to complete your retreat registration.

Participation in this retreat is open to all Catholic formators who accompany others individually in formation.

We expect to reach capacity for this retreat; however, Souls & Hearts reserves the right to cancel if the minimum number of participants is not met. In this case, 100% of your deposit will be refunded.
